The anti inflammatory properties in turmeric are great for treating both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It has been found that those who consume turmeric on a regular basis experience relief from moderate to mild joint pains as well as joint inflammation.
Turmeric in food can reduce serum cholesterol levels.
Turmeric can be used in the treatment of diabetes by helping to moderate insulin levels. However when combined with strong medications turmeric can cause hypoglycemia [low blood sugar]. Best consult a doctor.
Turmeric is a natural antibacterial agent and sprinkling it on the affected area speeds up healing.
Uses of turmeric
For burns——- mix one tsp of turmeric with one tsp of aloe gel
For pain —— mix one tsp of turmeric and two tsp of ginger paste with water to make a paste. Spread over a cloth and place.
For conjunctivitis——mix one tbsp of crushed raw turmeric in 1/3 cup of water. Boil and sieve. Apply two to three drops in each eye up to three times per day.
Diabetes—-take ½ to one tsp of raw crushed turmeric three times a day
For anemia—— take one tsp of raw turmeric juice mixed with honey everyday.
