Winter fruits


Winter  The winter where you not just bring out those woolen sweaters and mufflers but also want to just tuck yourself in sipping hot tea or soup. But one has to drag oneself off the bed and run around doing the various chores. Some indoors and some outdoors.

Though the air is chilly at dawn and night the sun can be harsh on  your face and skin making it feel sunburn or wrinkled. Just as one takes care of nourishing the skin with the varied lotions and moisturizers it is also equally important to take care of the body with the right nourishment during this season.  While we lean more towards the intake of fluids in the summer our food habits change during the winter. One craves for hot food sometimes even for spices. We list out five winter fruits that are easily available in the market and can work wonders if added to your winter diet.


Rich in antioxidants and vitamin C apples have a number of health benefits. They are said to reduce cholesterol levels control digestive and liver problems and said to be effective in the treatment of arthritis obesity anaemia and bronchial asthma.


They contain almost no fat and are rich in fibre antioxidants and other nutrients.  They are also a good source of potassium and magnesium which are good for the heart. They are also said to be good for the kidneys.


These tangy sweet fruits are rich in vitamin C   vitamin K vitamin E folate and potassium. They are beneficial as they contain antioxidants and fibre. They boost immunity are said to be good for asthma reduce blood clotting and lower blood pressure levels.


This fruit is packed with nutrients antioxidants flavonoids and dietary fibre. They are said to help in weight loss diabetes hypertension and heart disease. The high water content helps in flushing out toxins from the digestive system.


This sweet crunchy fruit is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. They are also a good source of potassium and are said to lower blood pressure. Its juice is also good to treat plaque.
